Catholic priest Mark Rossi sought a meaningful mission and envisioned establishing a school for the deaf that would support both deaf individuals and their communities. His opportunity arose when an abandoned public school became available, though it was located three thousand miles away in Los Angeles, far from his home in Baltimore.
To make matters worse, the funds meant for the school have vanished. Inside the crumbling building, Father Rossi encounters Lucas, a ten-year-old deaf boy who has slipped through the foster care system. Earning Lucas’s trust proves to be a slow, delicate process.
